Side Slipping

SideSlipping

Sideslipping is not only an excellent foundation edge control drill, it’s a skill that comes in handy frequently during a day of skiing.  It’s a skill that skiers of all levels should strive to master.

To do it, stand with both skis on edge, and pointing perpendicular to the falline.  Next, roll your knees down hill.  Your skis will tip off edge, and you will begin to slide sideways, straight down the falline.  Slow your descent by how much you tip your skis back on edge.  Come to a stop by tipping your knees uphill, and thus engaging both edges significantly.
