It's said that skiing is a dance with gravity.  Gravity is a force that skiers must always deal with.  It's the thing that makes skiing possible.  Gravity powers our descent down the mountain.  It's because of gravity that we often must angulate to maintain outside ski balance when turning, and the nature of it's influence on us changes as we proceed through a turn. This is one of the reasons balancing while skiing is described as a dynamic activity.
