Fore Balanced

Fore Balanced

A fore/aft balance state in which all base of the foot pressure is concentrated under the balls of the feet.  Fore balance directs more load to the front of the ski, which hyper engages the tip of the ski, and sharpens the turn.   It's a valuable balance state to employ at the start of the turn, when a quick direction change is needed.   In subtle states of fore balance, the shin will be in contact with the front of the ski, but not overly pressuring it.  The more you move forward and pressure the front of the boot with your shin, the more strongly you load, bend and engage the front of the ski, and the sharper the ski will turn.
