Flexion / Extension



A family of skills that are a crucial component of good skiing.  It refers the the flexion and extension of various body joints.  Of prominent importance is the flexion and extension that happens in the ankles, knees and waist.  Through these articulations, a skier is able to manage balance to a very precise degree, gracefully absorb and adjust to undulating terrain, and skillfully employ the important principle of long leg short leg.
