Edging

Edging

One of the primary skill groups in the sport of skiing, Edging refers to the tipping of the skis onto edge, engaging them in the snow, then using them in various ways to control the nature of one’s descent down the mountain.  With good edging skills, a skier has complete control of the shape of their turns, and can simultaneously manage their speed in any manner they choose.  Good edging skills are a key component of expert skiing.
