Diverging Skis

Diverging skis

When skis diverge, the tips are spread further apart than the tails.  Think of a snow plow reversed.  It's sometimes seen at the beginning of a turn, used to compensate for the inside ski not carving as quickly as the outside ski when placed on a lesser edge angle.  More commonly, it's used at the end of a turn, in the form of a skating step, when trying to generate a bit of extra speed.
